About The Event
Each year September 8th marks UNESCO’s International Literacy day, raising awareness globally on the issues surrounding adult and child literacy.
Despite progress made in our Country, literacy challenges still persist, distributed unevenly across countries and populations. ----------------- You know that look of wonder and joy that children get on their face when they listen to someone read them a story? Experience it yourself this Sunday :)
Reading aloud with children strengthens all kinds of literacy skills — introducing kids to rich, new vocabulary; modeling what fluent, expressive reading sounds like; and boosting comprehension through ongoing conversations between readers and listeners.
Reading aloud also helps build a community of readers and explorers. And it's pure fun! ----------------- This weekend visit will be to a children home, where kids from the underprivileged background stay and study. You are welcome as a volunteer to interact and help them explore story books.
