TraffiKnights is a cause aimed to spread awareness on road safety and to educate people on how important it is to follow traffic rules for their own safety and safety of others.
The number of road accident deaths in India is on a steep rise. A report on road accidents in India observes that on an average 17 lives are lost every hour in road accidents in the country and more shocking is that nearly half (54 percent) of all persons killed in road accidents were in the productive age group of 15 -34 years. TraffiKnights was conceptualized to spread awareness on traffic rules and etiquette.
Various busy signals across Bengaluru.
Once an invite is sent out through Facebook, Meet-Up, and Whatsapp, volunteers confirm their presence. On the previous day of the event, the location of the event is shared and the commute is discussed. On the event day, the volunteers gather at the specified signal. After all the volunteers are briefed on how to go about, they pick charts. When the signal turns red, volunteers hold the charts up to the people at the signal and also interact with people and request them to abide by the traffic rules.
